Thank you for the links :-) As you can see, now that I've found your blog I'm reading it, just like you're reading mine.

Isn't the internet a wonderful thing?

Cumbayah!

I'm warm and tingly all over having been the matchmaker. Yippee. These internets sure are a marvelous thing.

I am very surprised to hear that, because I am a liberal and I think it's the coolest state motto ever.

When I attended school in the state I remember a lot of students bitching about the motto. Back then things weren't as politically polarized as they are today but if memory serves, the conservative students thought the motto encapsulated their core principles whereas liberals felt that there were more important, and sexier, principles that could be expounded. I'm sure that the evolution of liberal principles since has just exacerbated the disconnect in NH.

Liberals should indeed lay claim to slogans like "Live Free or Die," or "Give me Liberty or Give me Death."

I agree that they should but I don't think they will. Maybe something like "Respect People's Feelings" or "Western Guilt Must be Shed" are better fits? They're short and pithy too and the first slogan might even diffuse road rage by constant reinforcement. :)

Hmmm . . .
For the conservatives, how 'bout:

Live Free or Die . . . Unless You're Pregnant!

Or

Live my way or die!

(This is fun!)

How about...

Live Fat Free or Diet!

But what happened in the mid-70s?

I used to envy people from NH with their cool license plates, because I was from "The Constitution State," which was like, so boring.

And I always thought it was ironic to imagine what the people in prison thought, manufacturing the NH license plates.

Sara

Happy, it seems more to me that it would be "Live free or die...unless you're pregnant, then you can just die."
